Built on a fresh design, the Escalade IQ boasts notable features, including rear-wheel steering, 24-inch wheels, and a sizable 55-inch touchscreen display.

Li Auto, a rising Chinese car manufacturer, aims to surpass the sales of well-known brands like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi in China by 2024. Their CEO, Li Xiang, shared this ambition with investors, indicating their goal to become the leading premium car brand in China in sales by that year.

The company is accelerating the release of new vehicle models and increasing production capacity, with plans to deliver around 40,000 units per month in the fourth quarter after boosting production.

Despite a price competition triggered by Tesla earlier in the year that affected other Chinese electric vehicle motor startups, Li Auto managed to grow its market share in the segment of cars priced above 300,000 yuan and achieve positive net income for the third consecutive time in the second quarter. They are set to launch four new models next year, including three electric vehicles.

Rising EV demand and advanced driver-assistance integration shape auto market trends.

China’s Zeekr, an electric vehicle brand under Geely Automobile, has announced plans to release its debut luxury sports car, priced at over 1 million yuan ($140,000). Sources indicate that the Zeekr 001 FR sports car will be launched in the coming weeks, intending to deliver the initial batch later this year.

While many Chinese electric vehicle motor manufacturers have been focusing on more affordable models due to intense competition prompted by Tesla, certain companies aim for the premium high-performance EV market to achieve better profits. Established in 2021 as a premium EV brand, Zeekr offers three models ranging from 189,800 yuan to 499,000 yuan in starting prices.

Ford Motor has announced former Apple executive Peter Stern as the president of its newly established Ford Integrated Services unit. This move is aimed at developing lucrative digital and subscription services. Stern, known for overseeing Apple TV+, iCloud, and Apple News+, will report to Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley.

In his role, Stern will focus on merging hardware, software, and services across various Ford units. Ford seeks to broaden its revenue streams by offering services linked to its vehicles, following a model similar to Apple. Stern’s task involves expanding Ford‘s hands-free driving package, BlueCruise, and developing service bundles to offer safer, more convenient, and more productive customer experiences.

Ford Motor is preparing for a new digital vehicle architecture in 2025, which will facilitate the introduction of new services for both retail and commercial customers, extending beyond electric vehicles. The company’s focus on software and services has already yielded significant revenues, with more than 550,000 paid software and services subscribers generating substantial profits.
